Kant said “The lack of memory is like a leaky barrel, in which everything that goes in comes out, so fixation is needed through the traces left by the experience. This fixation of traces places us in time and without it we would not be able to understand the fight against that human-inhuman phenomenon such as oblivion.”

For psychoanalysis, forgetting is due to a mechanism of repression and its relation to it. It appears as a disturbing thought or by an internal contradiction that comes from what is repressed. The essence of repression consists in rejecting something from the consciousness that is harmful and has the need to be away from us. Then, forgetting occurs due to the repression of memory.

Where goes all that we don’t remember but live within us? Those memories the brain chooses not to recall, but are part of us unconsciously. With this series of works, I want to give a space to those memories that are part of us but, somehow, not.
